EXAMPLE 1-Calculate coating required for a 178' diameter tank 90 ft. high sidewall with a spherical head having a rise of 31.5 ft. above sidewalls when insulated with 6" of insulation. Coverage 6 gallons/100 sq. ft. plus a 20% waste allowance.

EXAMPLE 2- Calculate coating required for a 60'6" diameter sphere including legs. Insulation thickness is 4" on sphere and legs, with legs insulated 4 ft. below intersection with sphere. Coverage is 6 gal/`100 sq. ft. with 20% losses. From Table C3, (Sphere Dimensions), determine the size of legs (columns). For this size sphere - 10 legs, 34" diameter.
