Subject: Solvent Welding Curing Tips
Two of the most common factors that affect the performance of welding adhesive are temperature and humidity. Colder than normal temperatures (below +65F to +70F) will slow down the curing time. Hotter than normal temperatures actually increase the curing time.
When humidity is high, surfaces absorb moisture and lengthen the curing time. The combination of temperature and humidity can work against the performance if the installer isn't paying attention to these factors. Cold temperatures combined with high humidity should definitely be avoided. If you've ever sprayed paint on a cold, damp day - you know what we mean.
PVC solvent welding adhesive applied at room temperatures with moderate humidity will provide a good initial "tack" in just 10 minutes. Complete curing will take 8-10 hours.
